New Fish Checklist

Confirm the aquarium is fully cycled, temperature is stable, filtration is operating correctly, and ammonia and nitrite are zero before ordering livestock.

Verify adult size, group requirements, temperament, and temperature compatibility. A fish that fits today still needs enough room as it grows.

Track the package, arrange prompt receipt, and make sure someone can inspect the fish immediately after delivery.

Have a clean net or transfer container, water-testing supplies, appropriate food, and a plan for quarantine or observation ready before the box arrives.

Keep conditions stable, lighting subdued at first, and watch respiration, swimming, appetite, waste, and social interactions. Avoid unnecessary handling.
