Discus Direct™ Quarantine Protocol

Understand what quarantine is for, what we observe, and why home quarantine still matters.

Our minimum

All Discus Direct™ fish are quarantined for at least 3 days before shipping eligibility. This is an observation and conditioning standard—not a guarantee that any fish can be certified pathogen-free.

What observation looks for

Appetite, behavior, respiration, visible condition and overall shipping readiness are evaluated while fish settle into our system.

Why customers should quarantine

A separate home quarantine tank protects an established display, allows close observation and makes treatment—if ever needed—more controlled.

Separate equipment

Dedicated nets, siphons and tools reduce cross-contamination. Work with established/display tanks before quarantine tanks and clean equipment appropriately.

Do not medicate blindly

Preventive medication without a reason can add stress and obscure the actual problem. Start with observation and verified water quality.

Release thoughtfully

Quarantine duration should reflect source, symptoms, system history and risk tolerance. Do not move a fish merely because a calendar date has arrived.
